I have been photographing this beautiful mama and daughter since Amélie was just two weeks old, and each time it's so much fun getting to see how much she's grown! This St. Albert motherhood session was so special - it was documented in celebration of Amélie's first birthday, which truly is, in large part, a celebration of Carike's first year of motherhood.
Watching the beautiful bond these two share is quite something. I love watching a mother and child interact so naturally with one another, and my big inspiration for this session was to just allow these two to be, exactly as they are. This meant lots of sweet snuggles and quiet whispers as mama spoke to Amélie in the most soothing, nurturing way. It also meant lots of kisses - my favourite to observe, as Amélie loves to grab her mama's face and go all in! It was truly magical watching mama and baby love on one another, and it was a pleasure getting to capture this special time for them.
With each click of the shutter, your sweetest memories are, quite literally, in our hands. We hold onto them with all our might, desiring to freeze what life felt like for that brief moment in time. Those first, hazy days of welcoming baby home. The weight of your toddler’s arms around your neck as she […]
Choosing the perfect location for your newborn session is so important. After all, light and location (in addition to wardrobe, emotive posing, and so many other things!) can really make or break a session. It is especially important when trying to achieve the light and airy look that you see in my work to shoot […]
Nothing gets me quite as excited as dreamy, grain-filled, painterly images like those captured on film. There is something so timeless and nostalgic about this medium that keeps me coming back, even after spending most of my life’s savings on this expensive art form (mostly joking there). In all seriousness though, film is expensive, but […]
Shooting outdoors can be absolutely magical– if you know how to work with the light, that is. Most photographers have their preferred type of light to shoot in, and some will even postpone sessions if that light isn’t readily available. The deeper I get into my career, the more I understand this sentiment. After all, […]
I know, first hand, how stressful it can be to have your newborn session in-home. You’ve just had a baby, you’re beyond exhausted, and your house feels like a tornado went off with breast pads and burp cloths and diapers scattered throughout every room. Getting yourself photo-worthy, along with your partner, baby, and any other […]
