Packing your hospital bag for your newborn’s arrival can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be.

I recommend starting early – sometime in your second trimester when you still have energy and can slowly set aside items that you won’t need until after baby’s arrival.

At the very latest, I recommend having your bag packed by 35 weeks to ensure that it’s ready to go in case of a surprise early arrival. After all, babies tend to arrive on their own timeline!

As an Edmonton Newborn photographer, I love getting to witness families grow. Big sister Amélie was one of my first ever newborns and now here we are, just a few years later, documenting sweet baby sister Anouk. As an Edmonton maternity photographer and mother myself, I know first-hand how easy it is to convince yourself that pregnancy does not need to be documented. After all, your body has changed and stretched and become unrecognizable. You feel tired and swollen, and anything but glamorous. And yet, when you pause to marvel at the […]

Starting a business is hard. In fact, I’ve had a few jobs in my lifetime, and aside from mothering my two strong-willed daughters who are mini, fiery versions of myself, I would argue that building my photography business– with no business knowledge whatsoever– has absolutely been the hardest job I’ve had. If I could go […]

Choosing the perfect location for your newborn session is so important. Nothing gets me quite as excited as dreamy, grain-filled, painterly images like those captured on film. There is something so timeless and nostalgic about this medium that keeps me coming back, even after spending most of my life’s savings on this expensive art form (mostly joking there). In all seriousness though, film is expensive, but […]

Shooting outdoors can be absolutely magical– if you know how to work with the light, that is. Most photographers have their preferred type of light to shoot in, and some will even postpone sessions if that light isn’t readily available. The deeper I get into my career, the more I understand this sentiment. After all, […]
