Summer is a magical time in little ones’ lives. It often means uninterrupted family time, fun-filled vacations, and making memories that will last a lifetime. That is one of the reasons why we believe that this beach family photoshoot is an extra special one. It’ll forever take these parents back to a moment in time when their little ones were just little – with tiny toes in the sand, big belly laughs, and so many core memories being formed.
One thing I often remind myself as a mother of two little ones – similar in age to these cuties – is that these truly are the days of our lives. The ones that one day, not long from now, we’ll look back upon as “the good old days”. And while summers and vacations with little ones can come with many challenges, the moments of magic are certainly in abundance when we truly pause to notice them.
During this sandy beach family photoshoot, our plan was simply to capture the magic of this season of mom and dad raising their two little girls. Baby Anouk wanted to toddle around independently and play in the sand, while big sister Amélie was happiest splashing in the warm lake water. And this session could have very easily been stressful for mom and dad, with the messy sand and lake water easy distractions for little ones. But these parents took it all in stride. Relaxed, happy to let the girls explore and get messy, they allowed me to capture their family authentically and without pretence. What we captured is exactly who these little ones are – and who their family is, together. And at the end of the day, that is why we take family photos in the first place – to always remember what it felt like to be a family during this season of life.
Capturing beachy, summery images isn’t something that I often get to do as an Edmonton Family Photographer, but it was certainly a highlight for me this summer! These photos took place in the little town where our first daughter was born, and it’s always a pleasure going back to capture beautiful families in this special place.
If you’re on the fence about capturing your family this summer on the beach, I assure you that you won’t regret it. This session was filled with fun and so many laughs. And the best part? It ended with all of us wet, happy and excited to see the moments captured.
While summer is quickly coming to an end, it’s not too late to book your fall family session! We have only a few handful of early October dates available, so don’t delay!
